Rothman Furniture – A Family Tradition

Categorized: Rothman Furniture | 1 comment

A family owned business since 1927, Rothman furniture has grown with Saint Louis for eighty-three years, and has the fourth generation of family running the company today. The reason for this longevity is that they have always been a part of the community, and have supported local organizations, and charities to help others that cannot help themselves. Plus the fact they treat each customer as a neighbor, and not just a number to profit from in the end. Dale and Jay Steinbeck still carry this forward in every aspect of their daily lives, as the know helping others get what they need, is the best way to do business in any economic situation.

Rothmans furniture locations are seven in all, from the St. Louis area, and bordering Illinois areas, and their store hours are all the same: Monday through Saturday, they open at ten in the morning, and close by eight in the evening, or when the last customer leaves. Sunday their hours are from noon until five. They also offer in home delivery and furniture setup that is scheduled while making your final purchase. The delivery fees include the set up of any furniture purchased, but will not include any home modifications, such as hanging mirrors or works of art, and taking doors down to help oversized furniture pass through into your home.

Rothmans furniture provides only top brands of furniture with a history of quality and customer satisfaction. Some of these furniture makers include: American, Best, Broyhill, Corinthian, Franklin, Lane, Pulaski, and Tempur-pedic. Their show rooms are staged to let you come and see what the furniture arrangements may look like in a real living situation, and allow you see how comfortable you are on their sofas, chairs, beds, and recliners. If you notice something on their website that you would like see demonstrated, then it would be best to call the store nearest you. If they do not have that particular furniture set up in their showroom, then they can find out if any of the other six locations can accommodate your needs.

Periodically there will be a Rothman furniture sale, and it will not only be advertised in the newspaper, television, and radio, but you can check frequently with their website as they publish their sale flyers online as they are updated. These are duplicates of the printed color ads that go into the several local and regional newspapers in the area. There are several in store sales on clearance items that will vary from location to location, but it might be worth calling each location to find what piece of furnishing you are looking for at a reduced price. Due to constant changing price structures in the home furniture business they will not give out phone, email, or faxed quotes on their furniture offerings. Rothmans will gladly give you a detailed quote when you visit one of theirs stores nearest you.

Rothman furniture stores are decidedly the premier home furnishings provider for the St, Louis and surrounding areas, due to not only their humanitarian support for the community, but just plain old fashion good customer service. They really treat you the way they would like to be treated and it shows in every action they make with not only clients, but with their neighbors as well. Their customer service department continues this theme, in how each customer is handled as an individual and not processed in cookie cutter style procedures. They know everyone is different, and will have unique needs, and concerns. Generations of family have run the store, but there are generations of customers that repeatedly come back, as do their children, and even grandchildren. This is what we consider furniture unleashed.

I will never buy furniture from Rothman again. I paid in full for a $ 875.00 leather couch. I paid this money with a credit card to Paul at the O Fallon Il, location. I was assured that there would be no problem with delivering the furniture on April 22, 2011. In the mean time my wife and I sold our living room furniture on Craigs List. Friday the 22nd I rent a truck and show up at the above listed facility and Paul immediately leads me to his desk. At which point without even pulling the sale ticket up on the computer he tells me that my furniture is still at the warehouse. Which is to say that he knew the minute he saw my face he was going to tell me furniture was not in, and thought it would be a good idea to lead me away from other potential buyers when he told me. I told Paul the week prior that I was making special concessions to make sure that I would have a truck on Friday the 22nd. During the entire week I received not one phone call to tell me that my couch would not be deliverable on the date set. As a result my family, including realtives from out of town had to sit in bean bag chairs for Easter weekend. The final insult was yesterday, a week later, when the couch was finally delivered no one from our family was home to take the delivery. As a result we had to have a neighbor let the delivery crew in. when we arrived home that evening we discovered that the leather had a 3/4 inch tear in it and had been repaired in order to conceal it. The salesman mislead me. He didn’t give us a courtesy call to let us know that our couch would not be delivereable on the specified date, and the furniture was torn. So my question to anybody reading this is why would you take these kinds of risks with your hard earned money? They had the same exact couch across town for the same price and I wish I had spent my money there. The moral to the story if you choose to spend your money at Rothman…. Buyer beware!
